Guest artist/instructor with an innovative and award-winning body of work, regularly exhibited and collected in the USA and abroad, joins us from Seattle to teach a hands-on workshop on the essential stages of mosaic building and speak about finding your own mosaic learning path.
Anabella Wewer
Guest Artist and Speaker with numerous international awards, exhibited and collected world-wide, joining us in Albuquerque to teach multiple workshops focused on andamento, language and story-telling, and traditional mosaic tools and materials.

Andamento 101 Live ONLINE
February 20 | 4PM MST
Location: Online via Zoom
Basic rules of Andamento with Anabella Wewer. This is an interactive session, lasting 2 hours (no recording) with plenty of time for participants to ask questions and get clarifications as we go along, but it is a very short primer session.
Andamento proficiency is a pre-requisite to Andamento As Language in March and this is the perfect primer.

Community Glass/Tile and Art Material Recycling Day

Mug to Mosaic with Kelley Knickerbocker
Feb 27 - March 1, 2026 | 9AM-4PM
Location: The Groove Artspace
309 Gold Ave SW, ABQ
Using the mug as context and vehicle, in this 3-day course Kelley unpacks and guides students through the six stages of mosaic building: inspiration, design planning, palette development, material analysis, precision processing, and execution. Each student will transform their mug into an 8" square mosaic in a frame.

Mosaic New Mexico (MNM) brings together New Mexico mosaic artists to share ideas, techniques, and opportunities through exhibits, education, community projects, and outreach. Working in glass, ceramic, tile, and found materials, MNM welcomes artists of all experience levels.

Artists' Talk: The Practice of Learning with Anabella Wewer & Kelley Knickerbocker

With a combined 40+ years of learning mosaics, and quite a bit of those years teaching, Kelley and Anabella are digging in and exploring how we learn and how to become better mosaic artists without the formal steps of European-style training. Join them for this lively conversation!
This is a FREE event, with limited capacity. Registration is required.

Andamento as Language with Anabella Wewer
March 14-17, 2026 | 9AM - 5PM
Location: The Groove Artspace
309 Gold Ave SW, ABQ
In this 4-day course, we explore how to use andamento principles to develop language and build storytelling within the lines of a mosaic. The ancient rules of andamento are stretched and applied to create a style all your own. We will also learn cutting techniques with hammer and hardie, emphasizing posture and precision, and learn all about the properties of smalto.
Prior knowledge of the principles of andamento is required. All tools and materials will be provided.

Learn the historical art of creating intricate jewelry using tiny tesserae of multiple kinds. This hands-on course will teach you how to cut materials, use them effectively in a design, and set them into metal bezels. You will leave with a finished, wearable artpiece of your own design.
